Nicole Ari Parker was born in New York City. The actress is American actor in stage and films. The most well-known role she has played is was that of Teri an ardent attorney Teri Jospehson in the Showtime show Soul Food. She is now known by her husband's name, Nikki Kodjoe. Born and raised within Baltimore Maryland. When she was a child, she displayed an aptitude for acting and was awarded the Best Actress Award in a Maryland High School Competition. Apart from her role at the theater and in the ballet company, she was also a part of the Washington Ballet Company.' She received an acting degree from New York University. Contractor is a Mumbai-born Indian living in Nigeria from the time she was seven years old, knew a great deal about different cultures around the world and was able to travel in such a short time. Contractor was an outstanding student in Toronto and was trained as an expert ballet dancer. Contractor began her acting career at 16 and was a part of the theater for a decade after spending ten years in dance. After she had completed high school, she won an all-inclusive scholarship to the University of Toronto. At the University of Toronto she completed a Masters in Theatre and also double majored with Psychology and Sociology. Following a year at University, Contractor went to an open call audition for the play Pericles at the prestigious, world-renowned Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and landed the leading role. Her performance was lauded for the 92 shows that she performed in. She won the 2002 award for the Best Production of the Year by Canadian critics. Contractor accepted the offer to join Stratford's Conservatory. Only eight men selected and four females accepted to a course of 20 weeks in the classical theatre. Contractor's spot was assured during the upcoming play, and she landed Hermia's part in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
